Had a problem Sat with harnesses breaking. I was using a BB with a harness and a single colorado blade and 2 times I lost fish. It is breaking above the top hook because I loose everything and have what looks like about 6ft of line left. Could the blade be nicking the line and causing a weak spot? I am using 15lb seagar floro for harness. Hope somebody can help. Thanks.

I use 15 or 20 pound seaguar and can catch 10-20 fish before I replace a harness unless I mess it up while unhooking a fish. I use plastic interchange clevis's. If you use metal ones they are probably wearing on your line, expecially at higher speeds of trolling.

What kind of speed were you trolling at? The colorados are for slower trolling .7 to 1.5 mph. They will wear real fast if trolled at the faster speeds. I noticed the line was worn real bad because I was trying to pull Indiana and Colorado blades at 2mph.

I was using the quick change cleavises by R&R tackle. I have a feeling that they are wearing on the line as you guys suggest. What are the best quick change cleavises out there?

Don't know what is the best. The plastic ones have a problem keeping the blades on. I bought some metal quick change at the Rodmakers shop and didn't have a problem on Saturday. Will have to look at my harnesses real close before I use them again. I used 20LB test stren fluro-carbon for mine.

I would rather lose a blade then have my clevis chewing up my line. Especially if you are in a tourney. I've lost a lot of fish with the metal ones already and I've only been using them for a few weeks now. I think I'll go back to losing blades.

I have to agree with the metal spiral R&R quick connects. I had several break offs just after a few hours of fishing. I've lost a few without any hits or fish, that ain't right. Kinda sucks pulling a leader without a spinner, beads and hook on the end....makes for a slow day. lol. I run 25 lb leaders. I think I may stick with the premade ones that Craig makes. I've never had issues with those in the past.

Craig's spinners are the best,by the time you buy all your beads-spinners-hooks etc you may as well just buy them your only saving around 70 cents each unless you just like to make them.I have had no problems with the worm harnesses from Craig's.

Checked my harness yesterday and don't notice any wear on them. Did have some dull hooks though. I guess they caught to many fish on Saturday. I don't know who makes the clevises I got from the rodmakers. But the're not the same as the R & R. Do have to pinch some of them closed though as they are a little open. Did loose a blade yesterday as one end came loose.
