They did check for a bad coil, bad injectors, air and fuel, compression tests, vacuum tests, they basically ran every test known to man, both through manual equipment as well as on the laptop computer. I guess the cylinder knockdown test is what tests each cylinder to see if any one of them is blown, each one of them was good. So that eliminates bad coils, injectors and says that each one has a spark, it was explained to me that when the cylinder is shut down manually through the computer it basically floods it out and if the cylinder doesn’t have spark or power it won't recover from it being flooded but each one did. They checked fuel filters, fuel pumps, flow, oil res, oil pressure. I was at Vic's for 4 1/2 hours of on and off test. The weird thing is when you start it and fire it up you would never know something is wrong with it, it ran me up and down the river fine, it just doesn't want to go past 2K then it doesn't have any power and doesn't sound right. The computer says 100% power is available and no warnings or alarms are being shown. Messed up. I'm taking it back on Monday.

I’m not second guessing anybody and it sounds like you have good techs working on it just trying to help with things I’ve seen. These engines have a bad history with coils and what you are describing many times is a bad coil. Did the Tech pull the plugs and put them on a spark board and spin the engine (this puts a very high stress on the coils much like a high speed run) also get a heat gun on the coils and try that. Most people will tell you the coil either works or it doesn’t, that’s wrong and if that’s what you have this will find it. Paul

I'll let them know about that. What I think was throwing them off about the possibility of a bad coil is that most of the time the engine still runs, when Zart's coil went bad he was still able to get over 4K RPM's.I know another guy who had a coil go bad on his 250xs I'm going to give him a buzz and see what his motor did. It's 100% possible that they react differently. THANKS for the input here I'll let them know when I drop if off Monday. They did NOT do the two things that you mentioned I'll let them know to try those two things. It's always good to talk to someone who has been there and done that with the same engine. I do know Coils go bad like the plague on these motors. injectors can go bad too.

Thanks again for the help Paul I'll let you know what's up once I hear back.

It was the coil just like you said Paul. He has to switch the 1 and 3 coil to find it before it showed up.
