What setup does everyone use and how you guys tie up your leaders and harnesses in terms of length, with a loop, swivel, snap swivel.... to use with a dipsey, BB, or inline weight?
Thought this was on here already but couldn't find it looking thru old posts. I'll attempt this and hopefully those in the know can correct any errors I have.
1) Snap clip tied to main line for attachement to Dipsey's, BB or cranks.
2) BB has snap swivel on leg for harness
3) Leader used for Dipsey's has snap clip or plain loop on dipsey end, snap swivel on harness end.
4) Harness's are double hooks(snelled) and 4ft. to 6ft. for use with inline weight or BB's, 6in. to 12in. for use with Dipsey/leader combo and all tied with a plain loop.
Am I close or do I need to just start over? lol...... |

Dan, You are making this harder than it needs to be. I will try to answer in the order that you posted this.
1) Snap or snapswivel tied to main line for attachement to Dipsys or Jets. Plain snap for attachment to crankbaits.
2) Bottom Bouncer has snap swivel on leg for attaching whatever you are going to pull.
3) Leader used for Dipsy has a plain snap on one end and a ballbearing snap swivel on the other. Snap to dipsy if running spoons or harnesses. ballbearing snap swivel to dipsy if running cranks.
4) Harnesses can be snelled single hook, double hook, triple hook or single hook with a treble hook. 4ft to 6ft or longer for use with inline weights, or bottom bouncers. Tied with a loop or ballbearing swivel. 6" to 12" for use with dipsys or jets. Mostly tied with a loop but can use the small ballbearing swivels.
The thing with the harnesses behind inline weights and bottom bouncers is the longer they are, the more chance of them snagging the bottom as your speed is slow.

All my leaders are 6' long,snap swivel on one end and a clevis snap on the other end.Then all you got to do is is flip it around for what ever your running.Works great. |

Those look accurate to me.
My double willows are not 6' long. They are short (just the harness), but use a 6' leader with snaps on both ends. These leaders work well for dipsy's and spoons/willows.
SpoonJunky spent all winter tying leaders, I don't think we have ie any for at least a few years. He has them wrapped up on a big spool. |
